About My Lion’s Heart
My Lion’s Heart is a Philadelphia-based nonprofit that provides everyday essentials to children and teens in need, helping them build self-confidence and succeed in school and life. Our commitment stems from an unwavering belief that every child deserves to feel supported and prepared for the challenges of their future.
Our Story
My Lion’s Heart began with a shared dream between two friends, Lovisa and Suzette: to help children feel confident, supported, and ready to shine. Both founders share the zodiac sign Leo, a symbol of strength, courage, and compassion that inspired the organization’s name. As mothers and women of color, they brought their family values and commitment to helping others together to create My Lion’s Heart.
We believe that when children feel good about themselves, they are better prepared to grow academically, emotionally, and socially. Providing clothing, shoes, school supplies, hygiene products, and other everyday essentials is one way we help create that foundation.

Lovisa T. X. Woodson
Co-Founder
Inspired by her mother and grandmother, Lovisa brings a legacy of compassion, preparation, and resilience to My Lion’s Heart. She co-founded the organization to help children feel supported, confident, and ready for the future.
Suzette Martinez-Quiles
Co-Founder
A first-generation immigrant from Honduras, Suzette draws on her family’s lessons about education, dignity, and perseverance. Through My Lion’s Heart, she helps children gain the everyday essentials that support confidence and opportunity.
